Ideas for a Graduation Scrapbook or Photo Book
As a scrapbook theme, graduation is ideal. Give yourself enough time to gather what you need to include, even if it takes several months or years. A comprehensive book could be made if you collected material for it over several years. You might involve your child in the creation of this book, or just make it your own special project. Your scrapbook could be created as a traditional scrapbook or you could make a digital scrapbook.
You'll want to keep these memories preserved in your album forever. This collection of all the memorable events, incuding trials and triumphs will make this a most treasured album.
Scrapbook paper with a graduation theme can be used. Print out pictures, clip art or illustrations and trim them to make your own scrapbook embellishments. Preserve the photos and documents you are adding to a traditonal scrapbook by using archival safe adhesives.
A few items to think about adding are: clubs, hobbies or special interests, achievements, favorite sports, and copies of newspaper clippings, if you have them. Possible other additional documents to include are awards and report cards or copies of them. Photos, notes or any other memorabilia from friends and family would be nice to add. Those hopes and dreams you have never shared with your child could be included as personal, handwritten notes. Scanning items such as these would be ideal if you plan to make a digital scrapbook.
Other ideas: Add school photos from each year of middle or high school. Mementos or memorabila from school dances, proms or other school functions. Other elements to use could include graduation-themed stickers. Dedicate a page for each year, such as: freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. Die cuts can be used to add interest to your pages. You can find die cuts or paper shapes with pictures and themes that illustrate hobbies, sports, or music, and use them as scrapbook embellishments. These can be bought at art, craft and scrapbook supply stores.)
Save pages for photos of all the graduation events, parties and the ceremony. Save space for graduation announcements or invitations to the event. Under the photos, add captions or other descriptions and notes.
Pick out a nice binder or scrapbook album to keep the graduation scrapbook pages in. Find a scrapbook album that is large enough for what you plan to include such as school photos, awards, certificates, etc.
After graduation, when the diploma arrives, you might include a copy of it in the album. Planning and saving items for your scrapbook done over a period of time, but these memories are worth the time and trouble. A graduation memory book with all the personal items, photos and notes wil make a gift that is treasured. These are the memories of your child's most important years you'll want to remember and share.
