The Doctor Who Sci-Fi Series And Doctor Who Audiobooks Collection: Some History

Almost everyone in countries like the UK, US, Canada, New Zeeland and Australia and so on should have heard of the world famous science Fiction television series DW by the BBC! Thanks to the resurrection of the serial in 2005 following a 15yr stop, Doctor Who is as popular as ever with shows being broadcasted on the international Science fiction channel and even on United States television channels as well as the BBC's transmissions.

DW all started in November 1963 when it's 1st episode aired on television taking the Doctor & his friends back into the past where they helped some cavemen to use fire for the first time. When you take into account the totally new serial DW is currently the longest running Science fiction serial of all time!

During the 70s the BBC expanded DW onto the audio median making the first Dr. Who Audio. The 1st releases were mostly soundtracks from the episodes with linking narration by the Doctors. It wasn't long before the BBC decided to take the audio releases to the next level by releasing audio book episodes solely for Audio Book release.

To add to this the BBC started making radio episodes, again with past Doctors who had played in the show, these stories were also made accessible in Audio Book format. Also many of the lost episodes have been re created by their original Drs in the Audio Book format making them finally available to the public once again. Currently the BBC's DW Audio collection has over fifty titles all available in quality Digital format at a reduced download price! The collection spans all the way though the 1st Doctor right up until the present Doctor, David Tennant. Also Torchwood Audiobooks & Sarah Jane Audio have also been added in recent times.

One of the really good things about Dr. Who Audiobooks is that they provide us the freedom to listen to our favorite shows anywhere we please with the use of the modern mp3 player. With multitasking becoming more and more an important part of our lives it's not surprising that Audio sales for both Dr. Who and in general have increased. Another reason why individuals like Dr. Who audio is because in many cases the audio episodes are now read by the actors of the show.

With the Doctor Who New series going from strength to strength and more and more Audios being made available both from the old and new serial and now from Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures as well, it looks like DW and DW Audios are here to stay for some time to come!
